South Melbourne is fast becoming a mecca of good coffee. I get to choose from Dead Man Espresso, St Ali, and now this place!
Slick and clever set-up aside, this brew bar serves coffee that delivers. It’s a bit squeezy, so in terms of personal space, I marvelled at the fit-out inside but refrained from snapping pictures, lest I accidentally end up with a shot of the barista’s hair follicle.

Background: Peanut butter & choc chip cookie (gf) $4 | 250g Bag o’ beans $12
Foreground: El Salvador “Guochoca” magic $4
Place your order, then make your way outside to one of the wooden benches, or the makeshift stools and milk-crate ‘tables’ to enjoy your drink. Fakegf’s magic satisfied, it was smooth, chocolatey, with great flavour depth. The accompanying giant cookie also met with her approval. It’s so nice when everything is good.
I don’t know where their beans are from, but since they call themselves roasters, I assume it’s their own blend. With coffees so delicious, I’m happy to source my beans from here to make my morning piccolos at home. I’ve been trying to master my Rancilio Silvia v3 for a year, but still have a long way to go…

Guatemala “La Perla” piccolo $4
It was early afternoon and that was my first cup of the day. One sip and my face broke into a beatific smile, it was very agreeable. I tasted the syrupy acidity of stewed plums.

I like Clement Coffee. I will be back!
Better yet, they’re open till 4.30pm everyday!

The set up is so cute :) Hopefully I get a chance to drop by when the weather improves on the weekends!

Yes, it’s very inviting. Hope you enjoy the coffees there too!
“Coffee for now, beans for home” – I want that sign! :)
As for dear Sylvia, she needs to be nice and warm before you start, a good half hour if you can … we now have a pressure gauge and other mods as well which seem to help (but I’m sure weren’t entirely necessary, just a good excuse for the hubby to play with stuff!). At the risk of sounding like a total coffee snob (although I suspect that ship sailed a long time ago), do you freshly grind your beans?
Yes, I loved that sign too. :D
And yes I do have wall timers to turn Sylvia on 30 mins before I wake, also have a bigger 18g basket, and a naked portafilter to watch extractions. The beans are ground fresh right before extraction too! All that said, my coffees aren’t as smooth as many good cafes. My favourite beans I like buying are from Market Lane & Proud Mary.
and here I was thinking that mentioning the wall timer would be going overboard! :D
Ohhh now i regret not getting a coffee there last Saturday when we walked past :) LOL you finally got your coffee Bryan!

Yes, I’m on a constant hunt for coffee on days when I don’t make one in the morning. Very nice coffees there. :)
I’m dreaming of the cookie!!!
It was quite AMAZEBALLS indeed. Can you replicate it? :p
